After the very successful three-year run of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, Hanna-Barbera supplied CBS with a new series featuring the frightened Great Dane and his four sleuthing teenage friends. Premiering in September 1972, The New Scooby-Doo Movies had two significant differences from the first series: it had a one-hour format and each episode featured a special guest star. Twenty-four episodes were produced, including guest appearances by characters as logical as Speed Buggy and Josie and the Pussycats, as unlikely as the Three Stooges and Batman & Robin, and as bizarre as Don Knotts and Sonny & Cher!
